Hi there. Sometime in Q3 2004, anthers' place was taken over by a wild mob of comment spammers. Rather than hand delete the approximately 1,300 comments which may or may not be suitable for PG audiences* that have been recorded since then, I've decided to just rebuild the whole thing.

Dunno when that will happen. Maybe next year.

In the meantime, some pictures.

* not as if this was PG to begin with, but hey.

Well, isn't this place a little dusty.

I guess it goes without saying that the site's been kind of neglected the last couple months. I've been busy with a couple of projects (here's something I don't want to see again anytime soon), a vacation, and just having a fine little time bumming around with people in my life.

Come to think of it, that's a pretty good way of summing up the last year - while I've had my share of ups and downs, I'd say that 2003 was a great year for me. There have been adventures I never would've thought I'd had, quite a few interesting new faces, and tons of personal growth-type experiences and revelations.

As I'm looking forward to this next one, I can't help but wonder what sorts of stories will come out of 2004. I know work will be nuts, but what really intrigues me will be all the personal stuff on the side - who I'm going to meet, the mistakes I'm going to make, and the accomplishments (I hope) I'll enjoy along the way. And I'm including my friends and family in this too - I know two of them are going to get married, and one will have a baby, by this time next year. Hell, who knows, maybe I'll even decide to go back to school and finally finish what I started three years ago.

In the meantime, here are some scans from my trip.

Well, my car finally did it - 250,000 miles on the clock. That's, like, 31 trips around the planet. That's a lot of trips. I wonder if it'll make the big 3-0-0?

In other news, I found out yesterday that the groupies found their way onto a live taping of Will and Grace. Apparently they (randomly) befriended some girl who turned out to be a set worker, or something like that.

Being shamelessly gregarious sure has its perks.

Man, good friends are hard to come by.

I say this after having spent the last three years working in my childhood home, around a group of folks I've spent the better part of a decade laughing with, crying with, and generally just bumming around with. Lately, I've noticed that this circle of friends seems to be getting ever smaller, as the people in my life find their way into new jobs, new romances, and new geographic locations. If this trend keeps up, in three more years I wonder if there'll be anyone left to hang out with.

As much as I think this whole recall business sucks, I have to say that there's a part of me that really kind of likes the fact that it's hooked people on politics. Yeah, it's too bad that it takes something so negative to get people's interest up, but for the first time in the last three years, regular folks on the street look like they're actually engaged in the political process.

Unfortunately, this interest doesn't extend far past the recall itself, which says something about how short-lived I think all of this will be. Most especially, it doesn't seem to extend to the two down-ballot policy initiatives, including one about how California should deal with ethnic and racial information.

On other days, it's not enough just to be alive, but to dream as well. And then to fight.
